On Friday night, Dyl and I headed out for a little date night (a wild move, I know—look at us being spontaneous) while we were in Cape Town for work. And guess where we ended up?
A pasta restaurant.
Now, I’m gluten-free, so you might be thinking, “Uhh… bold choice.” But they had gluten-free pasta (thank goodness) and the real reason we went?
I’d seen it on Instagram!
Reels. Feed posts. Tagged photos. You name it.
Out of the hundreds—and I mean hundreds—of restaurants I’ve saved for date nights in Cape Town, this one stood out. Not because it was necessarily the best (though it was pretty delish), but because it kept popping up.
Over and over again.
And that right there is the reminder I needed… and maybe you do too:
Consistency wins.
Visibility matters.
Showing up actually works.
Even when you think no one’s paying attention. Even when your likes are down, or your post took an hour to write and got a measly 4 comments (two of which were your mom and your bestie).
If you’re feeling the content fatigue or wondering “What’s the point?”, I hear you.
I’ve been in a season where I’ve had to fight hard against the perfectionist trap.
I’m a visual artist, so the pressure to make everything “look good” is real.
I want things to feel curated. Beautiful. Cohesive. Strategic.
But lately? I’ve been leaning into a different rhythm: done = perfect right now!
And honestly? It’s been soo liberating.
Because here’s the truth:
No one cares as much as we do!
Not about your caption being two words too long.
Not about the colour grading on slide 3.
They care about YOU.
Your value. Your heart. Your message. Your energy!
So here’s your gentle pep talk from me to you:
If you’ve fallen off the posting wagon, it’s not too late. You can restart anytime. You don’t need a full 30-day content calendar to show up today. You just need one post. Then another. Then another.
Because momentum? It doesn’t show up on day one.
It usually kicks in around Week 2.
That’s when things start to shift. You feel a rhythm. People start commenting again. You remember why you need this. You get an enquiry or two.
Three ways to make consistency a little easier:
1. Ditch perfection.
Seriously. You’ll post more when you stop obsessing over the little things that don’t matter.
2. Batch in baby steps.
Even if it’s just 3 posts ahead. Think about what you want to say this week or this month, and build from there. Look at the big picture, then zoom in.
3. Keep showing up—your way.
Stories. Reels. Carousels. Talking to camera. Static posts. It all works. The goal is to be present and top of mind, not perfect.
So yes, social media sells.
Even to the gluten-free girl who has a long list of other options.
The place that kept showing up? It won.
And you can, too.
So go on—post the damn thing.
You never know who’s watching!
Cheering for you always,
Tamlyn + Dylan

What I needed to hear today, thank you!
